Enel GP inaugurates innovative geothermal power plant in Italy

On 25th July 2016, Italian renewables developer Enel Green Power SpA inaugurated its innovative geothermal power plant Bagnore 4, in Tuscany, Italy.

“We are inaugurating a renewable facility among the most technologically advanced in the world, excellence which is completely made ​​in Italy and that we are exporting all over the world, from the United States to Chile, from Germany to Indonesia”, said Enel Green Power CEO Francesco Venturini.

Bagnore 4 plant was designed to meet the highest international standards and to employ the most environmentally friendly technology available. The plant has a total installed capacity of 40 MW and will be able to generate up to 310 million kWh per year, for a savings of 70 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent. The construction of Bagnore 4 involved an investment of around 130 million euros, partly financed with funds from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

Located in the municipalities of Santa Fiora and Arcidosso, near Grosseto, in the Italian region of Tuscany, the plant had been completed and connected to the grid in December 2014.
