The Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award is given to companies which have made an outstanding contribution towards the field of geothermal energy in the form of innovative products, scientific research or project initiatives.

The competition is calling for European projects, processes, products, and initiatives from European companies, entities, or organisations across all value chain and geothermal applications, provided that they are located or have operations within Europe.

Eligibility of Entries

The competition is calling for European projects, processes, products, and initiatives from companies, entities, or organizations located in Europe, across all value chain and geothermal technologies, provided that the innovation is located in Europe.

The entry must cover a field application of a new innovation in 2024 or the development of an existing process or product to provide an innovative and sustainable approach, released within the year 2024 (01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024).

The location of the innovation must be specified (city, country).

Benefits, improvements, replicability, impact and reliability of the innovation should be clearly stated in the entry form. The proof must be illustrated by a photo, a video or an illustration.

If research projects, to be qualified as innovation, nominees must demonstrate to have technology readiness level (TRL), as defined by the Horizon 2020 Work Programme, of 7 or higher.

Participants can submit one innovation per entity per year. Participants providing false information will not be accepted in the current and future editions.

No entry fee is required.

The winner will be announced during GeoTHERM, taking place from 20 to 21 February 2025 in Offenburg, Germany.
