The GeoSmart team are holding a webinar dedicated to ‘Overcoming Silica Scaling Constraints’ on 22 November 2023 from 13:00-14:00 GMT.
Silica scaling in geothermal power plants can lead to reduced heat transfer efficiency and equipment damage, causing costly maintenance requirements.
The GeoSmart consortium team have been developing a scaling reduction system comprising of a scaling reactor and retention tank that allow utilisation at lower temperatures when compared to conventional geothermal power plants.
These findings have the potential to dramatically increase the efficiencies of geothermal power and heat generation, thereby helping advance to viability of geothermal power as an important part of the future energy mix.
Samuel Scott, a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Iceland, will be joined by Gerosion Ltd’s Kristján Friðrik Alexandersson as speakers at this online event.
