A parallel session dedicated to the Belgian geothermal sector was organised at the Geothermal Power 2024 conference on 3 July 2024 from 1:45 to 3:45 pm CEST! This workshop introduced Belgium’s geothermal stakeholders to the innovations developed in the framework of the Geosmart project. It provided an update on the status and potential of the geothermal market in Belgium.
Speakers also discussed the possible impact of Thermocline storage in the Belgian context and complementary alternatives to increasing the flexibility and efficiency of geothermal applications. Finally, the results of the national consultation of key geothermal stakeholders conducted by the Geosmart project were reported and discussed with the audience.
This workshop provided the participants with valuable insights into market opportunities and innovative solutions driving the future of geothermal energy. This event aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange in the Belgium geothermal sector and beyond.
