Horizon Europe

The first Horizon Europe Strategic Plan will define the strategic orientations for Europe’s R&I investments over the period 2021-2024. Among its recommendations, EGEC underlined the R&I funding needs for innovative technologies, like geothermal lithium.

EGEC, together with eight renewable associations, urged the European Commission to maintain the Horizon Europe budget for Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility) and the climate-relevant parts of Cluster 4 (Digital, Industry and Space) at least at the levels outlined in the Commission’s original June 2018 proposal. EGEC and two other associations sent a joint letter to Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, proposing to close the gap in the Green Deal Call when dealing with Geothermal District Heating.

EGEC provided recommendations for the Horizon 2020 EU Green Deal Call.

In April 2020 the European Commission has launched an online public consultation process (questionnaire) that aims to outline the first Multiannual Work Programme of LIFE covering the period 2021-2024.
