EGEC, together with several European NGOs and Organisations sent an open letter to the Members of the European Parliament on the Just Transition Fund. The letter asked to exclude investments in fossil fuels – including fossil gas – from being financed by the Just Transition Fund and to support a just transition for all.

EGEC, together with 62 leading renewable energy, local government and civil society associations wrote to MEPs asking for the removal of fossil gas from the Just Transition Fund vote, which took place on Monday 6th July.

On 14 January 2020 the European Commission proposed a Just Transition Mechanism to mobilise at least €100 billion (over the period 2021-2027) to support regions most affected by the transition towards the zero-carbon economy.
