After the vote in the European Parliament Plenary of January 17 on key files of the Clean Energy Package, the RES Heating and Cooling associations came together to call on the European Council not to turn its back on their business in future negotiations.

On January 17th, the European Parliament voted in Plenary in Strasbourg three key files of the Clean Energy Package: the Renewable Energy Directive, the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Governance of the Energy Union Regulation. EGEC has released its comments positively welcoming the outcomes of the vote for the clean energy transition.

In the Plenary vote of the European Parliament on the Renewable Energy Directive on 17/01/2018, several Amendments aiming at adding regulatory burden to geothermal projects are subject to a vote. These proposals, supported by Italian EFDD (5 Star Movement) MEPs, are supported by arguments that are at odds with the conclusions of independent studies and the state of the regulatory framework for geothermal energy.

After the General Approach reached by the Energy Council on December 2017 and ahead of the vote in the Committee for Industry and Energy of the European Parliament, the RES associations jointly elaborated a statement on Market Design.
