Studies on Employment in the Geothermal sector

The knowRES project has released two reports assessing the current status of employment in the Geothermal sector and forecasting future trends.

The Geothermal Sector report found that:

  • The Biggest challenges are: Finding the right combination of technical and soft skills, and shortage of people at the feasibility stage
  • The Areas of development over the next 2-5 years will be: Development of drilling expertise, energy storage, solutions against scaling, efficient communication and legal and financial framework
  • The Competencies sought are:  Flexibility to adapt to the changing environment and clients’ needs, Reservoir engineering, Project management, Drilling expertise.
  • The three most wanted profiles are: Drilling engineer (supervisor), Project manager, and  Plant manager (O&M)
