The Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award 2024: Inspiring Geothermal Innovations

At EGEC, we continue celebrating the innovation and excellence of the Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award (EGIA) 2024 awardee, Vulcan Energie Ressourcen GmbH, along with the four finalists. 

The video titled “The Ruggero Bertani European Geothermal Innovation Award 2024: Inspiring Geothermal Innovations” showcases the journey of the winner and finalists, providing insight into their groundbreaking projects in the field of geothermal energy. 

The EGIA Award, known for recognising outstanding contributions towards the field of geothermal energy, has become a beacon of inspiration for professionals and researchers in the industry. This year’s winner, Vulcan Energie Ressourcen GmbH, was honoured for the innovative project, the Lithium Extraction Optimization Plant (LEOP) from geothermal, designed to revolutionise the production of sustainable lithium in Europe. 

The other finalists include: 

• Canopus Drilling Solutions Geothermal BV (Netherlands), with the project Field pilot of the Directional Steel Shot Drilling technology at VersuchsStollen Hagerbach, CH.
• Deutsche Erdwärme GmbH (Germany), with the project Geothermal Well GN-Th-1 (Geothermal Project Graben-Neudorf).
• Halliburton (Netherlands), with the project GeoESP Intake: Geothermal Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP) Intake.
• HydroVolve Ltd (United Kingdom), with the project The GeoVolve HYPERDRIVE
